Dr. Cappy Rothman is the founder of the Center for Male Reproductive Medicine and co-founder of the California Cryobank, the world’s largest sperm bank. He is a board certified urologist and nationally recognized authority on andrology, the urological sub-specialty of male reproductive health, and human sperm banking.
Dr. Cappy is a pioneer in the application of microsurgical techniques - from the treatment of male infertility to advanced techniques in sperm freezing and storage.
Dr. Rothman earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery residency training at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, followed by urological residency training at the University of California, San Francisco and an additional urological residency at Loma Linda University.
Dr. Rothman was on the medical staff at Century City Hospital, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and a clinical instructor at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was also a member of the Office of Technology Assessment (OTA) founded by Al Gore.
Dr. Rothman is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the Society for Cryobiology, and American Society of Reproductive Medicine and American Association of Tissue Banks.
God of Sperm
Dr. Rothman started the California Cryobank, one of the world's largest repositories of reproductive genetic material and cord-blood stem cells. Among other achievements, Rothman also pioneered the use of microsurgery in urological procedures, postmortem sperm retrieval techniques,and was one of the first practitioners of andrology, a specialty dealing with male reproductive biology and medicine.
