The Center is conveniently located in Los Angeles, California next door to Beverly Hills, and offers the latest treatments in a private and comfortable environment. Dr. Cappy Rothman founded the Center for Male Reproductive Medicine, which is currently directed by Dr. Philip Werthman. Both are award-winning specialists in Andrology.
Very few doctors are fellowship-trained Andrologists who are experts in the field of male reproductive medicine.
Dr. Philip Werthman
As the most recognized vasectomy reversal surgeon and male fertility specialist worldwide, Dr. Werthman boasts decades of experience in the field of urology and has held the prestigious position of President of the Los Angeles Urologic Society. He has been featured on the news and performed the first live vasectomy reversal on ABC’s Extreme Makeover – among many other appearances.
He graduated from the renowned Hahnemann University in Philadelphia as a class valedictorian, was top in his class, and received many awards. He then underwent further training in andrology, the medical subset that focuses on male fertility and was granted a visiting fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.
Dr. Cappy Rothman
Dr. Rothman, now retired, founded the Center for Male Reproductive Medicine, which has been under the direction of Dr. Philip Werthman, and is the co-founder of the world’s largest sperm bank, the California Cryobank. He is a renowned, board-certified urologist in Los Angeles who is recognized worldwide as a leader in the field of andrology and human sperm banking. He has pioneered and advanced surgical techniques to treat male infertility and in the safe storage of sperm.
His medical education began at the University of Miami School of Medicine. He then completed a general surgery residency at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center in Torrance and two further residencies in urology. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society for Cryobiology and has been bestowed many other honors throughout his career.

Fully Equipped In-House Laboratory
We know your time is valuable, and we’d like to make it as convenient as possible for you to get the care you need. That’s why our Center is fully equipped with a complete Andrology laboratory, certified by the Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation (COLA).
Our in-house laboratory allows us to expedite the diagnosis and treatment of many conditions. It also allows our patients to observe and participate in their treatment process.
State-Of-The-Art Surgical Facility
If surgery is recommended after your initial consultation and diagnosis, we will arrange it for you at your convenience.
Many procedures can be performed rapidly and comfortably right in our office. For procedures requiring advanced surgical techniques, including microsurgery, or those procedures that call for a general anesthetic, we will schedule your surgery to be performed at the nearby Specialty Surgical Center in Beverly Hills or a surgical suite associated with your fertility clinic.
Sperm harvesting procedures can be performed at the in vitro fertilization (IVF) center, where egg retrieval will often take place.
